PakePlus is a packaging tool built on Tauri2 and GitHub. You can also call it "PP" or "2P" 🫣. It allows you to bundle static files from any website—or any Vue/React project—into a cross-platform desktop application. It is lightweight (under 5MB) and high-performance, with the PakePlus tool itself weighing in at only about 8MB. To prevent excessive load on GitHub’s servers, PakePlus includes a usage limit: you may create and publish only one project per hour.
Advantages over Pake include:
Pake requires a complex and bloated local installation of Rust and Node dependencies, which can consume several gigabytes of your computer's storage—my hard drive just couldn't handle it…
No need to understand command-line interfaces or complex configurations. PakePlus provides a graphical user interface; you can complete the packaging process with just a few clicks—it’s so simple that even an elementary school student could do it! 😌
I previously experimented with Tauri2 for mobile, but found it too bloated. Instead, I opted for native Android and iOS frameworks for packaging and compilation. It also supports the release of debug versions on mobile, making development and testing much easier.
